Actinic

Actinic is a specialist UK provider of ecommerce solutions for small and medium retailers. Founded in 1996, Actinic has supplied solutions for thousands of companies in the retail sector, both online and offline.

The company offers two ranges of ecommerce products for web designers and self-builders. These comprise both web-based and desktop store-building solutions.

The Web Designer range: Actinic Designer is a development tool for commercial web designers deploying multiple sites and allows seamless interaction with Dreamweaver. The site owners are supplied with Actinic Catalog Client or Business Client software to operate their stores which have the design features removed.

For those wanting to create their own store - Self-Builders - Actinic offers Actinic Express, an entry-level web-based shopping cart; Actinic Catalog, with everything a merchant requires to develop and manage their own online store, including capacity for growth; and Actinic Business, a more sophisticated application for higher volume sites and integration to Sage Line 50 accounting system. There is also Actinic Audio Store for musicians, DJs and producers wanting to sell their recordings as MP3s or on CDs. Users can obtain annual maintenance to any product via purchase of Actinic Cover.

Greater Vision is the exclusive distributor for Actinic E-Commerce Solutions, for South Africa, and was founded by Paul Barker in 2005 with the aim of providing SMEs with e-commerce solutions that offer easy of use (start-up and maintenance) with low total cost of ownership whilst providing on-going advice, service and support to enable the companies to grow their online business.

Paul Barker MD, has 25 years experience working in both public and private sectors, covering the areas of Business Management, Finance and Information Technology. He has worked with small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) as both Company Secretary and Director, for International and UK companies. Since 1996 he has been a Consultant providing Management, Accounts and IT (E-Commerce) support to small and medium sized business in the UK. After running a Sage Accounting Software business for a number of years, specialising in integrated business software solutions (including Actinic) , Paul set up Greater Vision (UK) as an Actinic Reseller to specialise in ecommerce software solutions for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs), and is now expanding this venture into South Africa. Paul has been working with Actinic Software for 6 years.

The products are sold both direct and through channel partners including web designers and developers, Internet Service Providers, web hosts and traditional IT resellers/VARs, who not only market the software product but also provide other services required by SMEs to run their online businesses e.g. hosting and web design/development.
